Liberty Oak Law Firm
Joseph DuBois and Kori Brett McKeithan met on their first day of law school in 2000. They crossed paths again in 2015 and were married in 2016. Kori Brett then moved to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and assisted Joe at his previous law firm utilizing her Spanish language skills to assist with Spanish-speaking clients. Additionally, she capitalized on years of legal research and writing experience to assist Joe in the preparation of federal court filings.
In 2018, Kori Brett founded Liberty Oak Law Firm on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, with a focus on real estate law. In 2020, Joe joined his wife at Liberty Oak to expand its services due to his years of litigation experience. Liberty Oak’s attorneys have more than 40 years of combined experience and we are proud to use our cumulative knowledge to assist you with your legal matters.
With a dedicated legal team and state of the art technology, we are able to represent clients throughout the entire state of South Carolina, and we have many clients from other states as well. Our advanced technology allows us to represent our clients seamlessly, without delays in communication with our clients, our team, and the courts, regardless of where our clients may be located.

Why Liberty Oak for the name of a law firm?
After years of researching Hilton Head Island's history, the story of the Liberty Oak resonated with us. Charles Fraser, developer of the Sea Pines Resort, refused to allow the majestic 300-year old Liberty Oak to be destroyed in order to build the Harbour Town marina. To this day, the Liberty Oak's massive canopy framing the marina is the site of unforgettable weddings and other family-friendly events, including the nightly summer sing-a-longs with Gregg Russell who has performed under the Liberty Oak for more than forty-five years.
Strong Roots, Safe Shelter, Family, and Commitment: Those are the reasons our law firm is named Liberty Oak.
